Membership

You can play basketball at Almonte from 6 years old. Members can choose to train alone, train and compete in competitions or play only recreationally.

Almonte has teams that play nationally (Promotion Division and Second Division), they play matches throughout the Netherlands. In addition, we have teams playing in the South Division of the NBB, these teams can play matches throughout the South of the Netherlands. Furthermore, depending on your age, you belong to a certain age category.

The age classes for the 2022/2023 season are:

Seniors born in 2001 and earlier
U22 born in 2002 and in 2003
U20 born in 2004 and in 2005
U18 born in 2006 and in 2007
U16 born in 2008 and in 2009
U14 born in 2010 and in 2011
U12 born in 2012 and in 2013
U10 born in 2014 and in 2015
U8 born in 2016 and later

At Almonte we do not (yet) have a U8 team, players from 2016, 2017 and later play at U10

The games are generally played on Saturdays and exceptionally or Sundays. Home games all take place in the Achtse Barrier sports hall. Most training sessions are also given in the Achtse Barrier sports hall, but we also train in the halls of the Aloysius Foundation on Avignonlaan.

Of course you also play away matches, for the lower competitions our playing area is in Brabant and Limburg and in exceptional cases in Zeeland. The national teams travel throughout the country. Seniors arrange the transport to away matches among themselves, for the youth an appeal is made to the parents to drive to matches in rotation.

From the age of 14 you are obliged to take the rules course and test online.

You will receive an invitation from the competition secretary to the email address known to us.

(The NBB will soon check this. If you have not yet taken or passed the test, you are no longer allowed to play matches!)

When you play matches, you also have obligations. Two umpires and two judges are required for each match. This means that you are deployed on a rotational basis (generally before or after your own home game) to do match tasks. From the age of 14 you can be used as a jury member (scoreboard, tablet or 24 seconds control). From the age of 16 you are obliged to follow a referee course at Almonte and to whistle matches.

Cost of membership

There are of course costs associated with membership. You pay, among other things, for playing, training and the uniform. The costs are not the same for everyone, age, the number of training sessions and competitions and the costs for registration calculated by the NBB are taken into account.

These costs can be found in our  contribution matrix, which shows what you have to pay per age category.
